On December 28th of 2018, Hunter Lane Henderson tragically passed away. The Hunter 5k is being created to honor and celebrate his fast and free spirit. Hunter loved Halloween and dressed up in costume throughout the year. Costumes are optional and encouraged at this race.
The Hunter 5K is an inspiration of Chance, Hunter’s father. He is moved to create a fun and inclusive event that Hunter would be proud of.
Proceeds Will Benefit The Dell Children's Medical Center
The Dell Children’s Medical Center helped the Henderson family immensely during Hunter’s stay. Their around the clock care and attention to detail made a painful time a little less painful. The Dell Children’s Medical Center is the only dedicated freestanding pediatric facility in the region. Serving a 46-county area and beyond, Dell Children’s is the premier healthcare provider for children and adolescents.
THE RACE WILL BEGIN AND END AT THE AVANA SWIM CENTER IN THE AVANA NEIGHBORHOOD
OPEN TO ALL
(Individual serious runners, families, kids, dogs, strollers, and walkers)
Children will not be allowed to ride bikes during the race, for the safety of themselves and all participants. However, there will be a bike parking area for any neighbors who would like to have their kids ride to the race.
