In December of 2018, Hunter Lane Henderson tragically passed away after he was critically injured at home while playing with his sister. The Hunter 5K was created to honor and celebrate his fast and free spirit. Hunter loved Halloween and dressed up in costume year-round, so it is only fitting that the Hunter 5K be held on October 31, 2020, Halloween Day!
While the race is going virtual this year to keep everyone safe and healthy, we
strongly encourage you to dress in your most creative Halloween costumes, run
your favorite 5K route, and go for your personal best race time! We also want to
enjoy the race fun with you, so please post your Hunter 5K race photos and tag us on Facebook and Instagram.
PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE DELL CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER
This year, funds raised through the Hunter 5K will benefit the Dell Children’s
Medical Center. The care and attention given by doctors, nurses and staff at Dell Children’s Medical Center made a truly traumatic time a little less painful for the Henderson family.
As an Ascension Seton nonprofit hospital, Dell Children’s Medical Center is the
only Level One Trauma Center serving a 46-county region across Central Texas,
and beyond. Caring for a population of roughly 70% uninsured or underinsured
patient families, philanthropic support from our community ensures that no child is ever turned away regardless of their families’ ability to pay.

How the virtual race will work:
Step 1: Register here!
Step 2: Kick-off is Saturday, October 31 and will remain open through November 15.
- We will send a kick off email on October 30 with important links including:
> Link to create your virtual bib. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook
to share your bib with us and tag #Hunter5K.
> Link to submit your result if you choose to.
Step 3: Run, walk or move anyway you want to complete your 5k on any route
- Costumes are not required, but we strongly encourage you to step up the
fun and celebrate Hunter’s spirit!
Step 4: Submit your best 5K time by November 15.
Step 5: On your finish time result you can download your finisher certificate.
Step 6: Receive your Hunter 5K Halloween Fun Run t-shirt. Race packets will be sent by mail this year, so no packet pickup. All racers who register before October 1 will receive their t-shirts before race day. If you register after October 1, you will receive your t-shirt after November 15.
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, walk, or jog on the road, on the trail, on a treadmill, at the gym, or on the track. You can get to run your own race, at your own pace and time it yourself.
When does the race start?
Kick-off is Saturday October 31, 2020! You have until November 15, 2020 to
submit your best 5K time to us so that we can add to our leaderboard.
How do I submit my 5K time?
You will receive a race email on October 30. The email will include a link that gives you the ability to submit your race time. If you register after October 30, you will still receive a link to submit your results in your confirmation email.
